    Firearm License Laws

Just was wondering what the new firearm license Laws are. Is there any waiting list or anything like that?

Don't forget the "discussion " documents as well where they ask your opinion and ignore it.

Not a stand-down or waiting period as such, but there is definitely a backlog of applications. You can expect a waiting time if 12-18 months, and the police don't seem too fussed to fix that anytime soon.

If you are serious, get your application in as soon as possible, or consider taking up airgunning or archery.

maybe more...and if you were naughty,or even a typicle teenager and have had a few speeding tickets etc...well you might be shit out of luck at end of that 1-2year wait for answer...... and be VERY nice to your Mrs/partner...any sniff of domestic violence and you could be kissing goodbye to any shit show at all.
I love this country but really worry for the direction it is heading.

I hear from 1 month up to 18 months for first time applicants. Probably varies by location.
I had my interview and safe inspection two weeks ago, and it was estimated to be a month for the licence from then. If that estimate holds out, it will have been 8 months for me.
Two new vettors tagged along with the arms officer for the interview and safe inspection for training and all seemed like good sorts. So there is light at the end of the tunnel in terms of the pace being picked up, I think.

interesting thing that for renewal of dealers license this year, the number of pages to be filled out jumped from 2 to 30ish. they even want to know how much I am making by being a dealer in one one of the sections.

If you can afford to pay a psychiatrist to label you bipolar, and afford a QC in court, you can keep your license and arsenal despite having beaten your wife, and children, threatened someone with a firearm and having a road rage incident infront of police as well as speaking threateningly to anyone you find doesnt agree with you. Or so i hear...
