Exactly. There are some grey areas there. I guess if it has no serial number so can't be registered...??? However, a stock is a necessary component of a firearm (not to fire, but to be a useable product (unlike a suppressor which is not necessary for a usable product)), so would that make it a major? Or because it is not directly related to the operation of firing, is it not?
I just got off the phone to "My Firearms Support" and now have it in writing that a suppressor purchase will NOT start the registry. Maybe worth a call to check on the stock situation too? Can never be too careful with this I believe.
This is not a grey area, if you read the definition of firearm items in relation to the register, it says exactly what parts need to be registered.
