About LinkBacksYeah.. It would be too small for deer sized game and if you are not the crack shot then even more so. Even though it's laughed at on this forum the 7-08 would be a decent starting point for deer but how often would you go after them? .243 might be better if you are varminting and you have the option of a heavier load if needed otherwise grab a .223 and learn how to shoot.
