Have a mint blr with the old mag that sits about inch and a half below the action,how hard would it be to cut it down to close to flush fit?no other mag I know of fit the pre 81 blr.anyone have the skills to cut it and it it?dont mind if it only holds 2 rounds . Thanks

Those extended Mags are worth half the price of your gun. If you want a flush fit sell the whole rig and buy the 7mm08 advertised on here.

Mine is 1234k73 so made in 73 to date yours it’s the last two digits after the letter :)

Looks like the first batch of Japanese made BLR 81
From what I’ve seen all the ones with the letter K in the serial numbers are Belgium made.
I think yours is number 27 BLR off the production line in that year.
There serial numbers are some what hard work. Because of the swap around in countries of origin.
Has miroku printed on barrel,from my research all I got was the 127. (last 3digits)means the model(BLR)
yip its the same as the one I had...bloody good rifles and dont for one minute think the miroku name makes its less than a Browning...miroku have been making top of the line firearms for a VERY long time...and the little fellas from the land of nippon have been making some of the best steel in the world for longer still. and your magazine looks just right as shown in photo.
IF you decide to thread it...be aware it will probably need to be done by hand rather than in a lathe as barrel stays attached to action (well thats what they told me anyway) cost us a little more than was origonally quoted.
However I have read there are slight differences between the Belgium and Japanese pre81 mags and that one will not fit the other without a little tweek. This is not personally confirmed.
