Thread: Forbes 20b or Kimber Montana

Hi Guys,

Seriously looking at getting an ultralight.

What are your thoughts on the Forbes 20b vs the Kimber Montana?

I have played with the Kimber hunters and thought they were OK, not a fan of the stock though.

I hear they are both accurate.

How about Rem model 7, short action, short barrel. wood ones can be pretty light. Carbon available. Good accuracy

An option I hadn't considered, but the cost of a carbon plus the rifle would be the same...

My kimber weighs 3.7 kg with scope and suppressor and the mod 7 weighs 3.9 kg with the same but its got a laminated stock and fluted barrel.

Shit thats not light I've had a kimber loved the rifle but hated the safety.

My kimber weighs 2.75kg with suppressor and scope, it is my go to deer rifle.

Both of the rifles Brian has are magnums so an extra1lb is probably a good thing.

Thats pretty light @MSL gotta be happy with that. So the rifle bare must sit right at about 2 KG

@Brian I can get my Model Seven to tip the scales at 3.25 Kg scoped, no supresssor but its a normal walnut stock.
@300_BLK it cost $850 or so as is.

The 20 B would be pretty light but its going to be second hand too not many get sub 5 lb (2.2 Kg)

It was 5lb when I got it then chopped 7.5” off it, didn’t weigh it after though.

What caliber are you thinking of getting man? i have played with a forbes and owned plenty of kimbers the kimber is smoother and full stainless which is a bonus.
