Old man’s asked me to get a value on this rifle for him.
I’m not sure what make it is, barrel isn’t too bad but not mint.
Couple small cracks in the wood.
Cheers

Could be wrong, but it looks Spanish Military carbine. Can you give me first dibs please if your father wants to sell. No idea of value, sorry.
That's pretty cool
Identify your target beyond all doubt
They cost $35 in 1969 for what it's worth .
Old Spanish Mauser, I had one back in the early 90`s , 308, paid $90 for it.
If it's drilled and tapped a shooter will want it (or a cheap collector) but it's ruined for decent coin. my estimate is anywhere between $350-$550
its a spanish cavalry carbine.(saddle ring under the stock)they were rechambered from 7x57 to 7.62 NATO circa 1950 $500 would be a good price for its current configuration.the front barrel band wants to be turned around too

Thanks for everyone’s input, for $500 I’d keep it and pretend I’ve got a sako haha.
hbwanderer is correct regarding its a spanish calvary carbine, they were rechambered for 308 and re rifled in 308 for the isreali,s to be issued to their troops as needed in the mid 60,s . a container load arrived here as surplus and I bought one for $20 i think, weeks pay anyway.... the little rifle used to bark and bite to!
cheers
I’ll try put some rounds through it and see how she shoots
@raydafish the steel but plate was hard on the shoulder aye,
had a shot out of a small Spanish saddle ring carbine in 308 years ago. I really liked it.
never got around to getting one though.
Had one for a while and I remember it being quite heavy for what it was. They were never worth much, but I sort of thought it was cool. I dont think you should shoot full powr .308 loads in them though, I think they started out as 7x57's.
I dont believe they had anything to do with the Isrealis though, (those were normal K98s, with the german marks scrubbed.) These carbines were rechambered to .308 for rear guard use when the Spanish went Nato, then sold surplus.
It is had a good bore then $600-700 if you had someone who just got payed and wanted it...otherwise 300ish. A bi more than what an old .303 is worth with a worn out bore.
