Hi Team,
Is it possible to change my GPS from the NZMS 260 series set up internally ( Geod Datm '49 ) to the new Topo50 map references????
If so, what is the setting in the GPS that I set it onto?????
Cheers.

Should be, I setup an etrex to work. This should do it http://www.davisnetworking.co.nz/nztm/nztm-etrex.pdf
Cheers Stug. Appreciated. I'll check that out but I'd still like to hear from someone who has done it to a 60cx or csx. I seem to recall that the Etrex gave you many grid options to click onto. The 60cx only has "New Zealand" as an option & I can't tu tu with the Geod Datm'49 bit. BUT: there has to be away?????
On my Oregon 550 the menu path is:
settings>position format
Position format = New Zealand TM (NZTM2000)
Map Datum WGS 84
Mao spheroid WGS84.
Not sure if that will help.
To get Topo50 Northings and Eastings on your GPS, you want to set the position format to New Zealand Transverse Mercator (NZTM). In the GPS Setup screens find the the "Position Format" setting and select "New Zealand TM" - the Map Datum should be automatically set to WGS-84.
60CSx instructions:
• Turn on the GPS Unit
• Press the “Menu” button twice to get to the “Main Menu” page
• Select “set up” and press the “Enter” key
• Select “Units” and press the “Enter” key
• Select “Position Format”, press “Enter” then scroll down to select “New Zealand TM” and press “Enter”
• Select “Map Datum”, scroll down to select “WGS 84” and press “Enter”
• Press the “Quit” key till back at the navigation or map page

Will that still work despite the internal mapping being in the old 260 format?

Thanks Mickey & Stretch. I'll give those suggestions a go.( Yup, just did as you laid out stretch & it all locked into place. I hadn't quite delved into the inner workings quite far enough, beers)
Appreciate the feedback as my old 260 maps are getting a bit tatty & hard to read.
