Getting scopes out of the US

Do you need export permits and all that crap? I'm looking at getting some scopes in the future and what I want is either not in NZ or ridiculously over priced

Real guns start with the number 3 or bigger and make two holes, one in and one out

What are you looking at getting?

Nightforce is a mission to get out. S&B is easy along with most other types and brands of 'normal' scope.

If your after Acog's or similar your on a hiding to nothing unless you have someone coming back from the US who's prepared to risk PMITA federal prison by trying to sneak one through in their carry on.

Unfortunately I am looking at more "tactically inclined" optics. Nothing flash though - A Bushnell TRS 25 for the SKS, a Leatherwood CMR 1-4/Millet DMS-1 for my next AR, maybe a Nikon M223 2-8 for my current AR and some kind of longer range jobby for my Sako. I read on a Canadian forum that ALL rifle mounted optics are now subject to export restrictions. I've attempted once before to buy a Vortex SPARC off Brownells, they sent me a document saying that I need to send them an import permit from my country as well as a written order, as they would need to apply to the department of commerce for a license to export it...
