    Getting a stiffy

I, like many of you have a problem,

I don't like how floppy my synthetic tikka stock is. I had a plan of buying a B&C stock in the states for cheap and bringing it back. Minimal gain in weight and a fantastic stock for a few hundred dollars. I have since found out that as a firearm part they may be difficult to bring out in checked luggage.

Who h as done a DIY job on eliminating forend flex using the TBR stuff, arrow shafts, whatever... Could you post some pics. I need to bed it too and I dunno how that will go but should be a good learning curve.

OOHHH, me too, i would like to 'stiffen up my forend', of my rifle, that is!...Stevens 200 synthetic, supposed to be 'free floating' but depending on the grip, it can/will touch the barrel..

ive heard it done with carbon fibre arrow shafts too.....

if not a new thread, please PM me to please!
While I might not be as good as I once was, Im as good once as I ever was!

i tryed with my sps remington stock, i had it bedded, then I stiffened the forend with newtech.
it worked fine, the gun shot great. I still replaced it with a boyds laminate.

the problem isnt the stock its in your head. go out and get the B&C from DED
bedding + stuff to stiffen forend + time for something you wont even be happy with.....

Just by the B&C off Brownells. Export permits are easy to get.

I used balistic researchs for end stiffening compound in a factory 595 stock. It did help but still no where near as stiff as the Sakos walnut.
If i did it again i would cram as many carbon arrow shafts in there as i could and use the compound to hold it together.
Or just get a carbon stock

Not an issue off the bench.

Can you throw it down on any terrain with an awkward position and have it shoot to the cross hairs?
I can with a stiff stock but not with one made of jellow.
    Maybe Im just a muppet.
