Thread: Going to Bass Pro

So off to NY and Washington next week have permission from the good wife to take a side trip to Bass Pro
What to buy!!!!!??
Ideas well appreciated, don't need any rifles shotguns
But have a trip to Stewart island coming up next year so any suggestion would be welcome, ideas

SS turkey cooker. Not heavy but big volume. Great for crays, mussels, turkeys, chickens, wings, crabs...... oil/ water base, just a big pot with a huge flame and big pot above.

might pay to troll their website to refine your search a bit/get them to collect you a pile of bits so you can just ogle without stressing to find X or Y
from what my dad said its overwhelming
magizines are cheep as chips, there the ones that hold bullets not the paper variety
open them and drop them in the bottom of your bag
depends what you need really

i went to the one in las vegas, bloody amazing i was int there 3 hours on 2 separate days.
i think cabellas is a little cheaper though.

I used to work at the one in Calgary (2009-2010).

they are a great place to buy accessories like shooting aides, hearing protection, rifle add-ons, reloading stuff, etc. oh and cheap novelty hats and t shirts

hunting clothing is generally pretty good value as well but a lot of it isn't well suited to nz style of hunting.

camping and fishing gear is well priced too so you can find some good deals there.

generally hunting / shooting kit is slightly better by way of range and price at Cabelas.

cheaper than nz by a lot, but not as cheap as some other store in the US.

Year I'm more going for the spectacle of it!
Might also get some reloading stuff.

I bought at bass pro in Florida a cameo mosquito net complete suit. It packs up super compact when you don't need it and can be worn over normal clothing and be fitted in a couple of minutes.

It is used by the guys hunting in the swamp in Florida and Louisiana and also by the guys hunting in Alaska .

That would be a perfect items against the sand flies in Stuart island.

I went to the one in Anchorage a couple of months ago. Didn’t see it all in one day, will that was my excuse to go back

What to buy?......everything, they have things we only dream of.

I've found the stuff made in the US is usually well priced when you are in the US (sort of no shit sherlock!)
That said, optics can be a good buy, especially leupold.
Mostly I end up buying nick nacks that will be be handy one day, just don't know when. Bass Pro and Cabelas are also responsible for a fair old collection of knives too.
Oh and Avery products. I was in the Memphis Bass Pro during their duck season, I've never seen so many deeks and duck related gear.
As someone said , you can always order on line and collect in store too.
Mrs Imaca likes Bass Pro too, they seem to have good leasure gear that is not camo or green.
I believe that the guy who owns Bas Pro has recently purchased Cabelas.

Oh and prices are before tax which always catches me by surprise
