A good 4x, 2-7, 3-9 would be all you need. If you want a great warranty , reliable scope and a really poor field of view, then the pre VX model leupolds would fit the bill. If you do want a good field of view and light gathering, the european offerings are almost always better than the early leupolds and the like of the same age. Warranty not so simple often. Kahles 4x ,2-7 if you can find one or 3-9 would be in your price range, swaros, zeiss of the same magnification too. They come up here from time to time if you're patient. Can't comment on other makes, as I haven't owned or looked through enough to make any judgment. ( not a leuplold hater, own and have owned several)
