Gun City 'Jericho SPR-15 Straight Pull'

Gun City look to be offering their own take on the straight pull ar15. It appears to have no forward assist and no ejector cover? And yet it's more expensive than deltamikes utas.
What do you fellas think of it?

It appears the straight pull action is entirley the charging handle at the back like a standard AR. That looks ridiculously undomfortable to me, in fact the AR charging handle is one of the few things I don't like about real AR15s, side charging is always easier I think. And that stupid bar on to the pistol grip is totally unneccessary for current law. A forward assist would be of zero value in a rifle that is not semi auto (and of very little value in a even semi-regularly cleaned semi) so that is not a consideration. Agreed a dust cover would be a good idea when not loaded.

It's a strong no from me, zero interest.

You'd think they would get an upper that isn't made for a forward assist with that price tag. It looks like they may have thought of side charging https://www.guncity.com/jericho-stra...t-m-lok-402310 for an extra $149

You know I didn't even notice that 'dead end' forward assist the first time I looked! That's actually pretty funny. And the idea of using the standard AR15 charging handle to reload while trying to control a mob of goats is totally impractical, a bolt action rifle must be a lot faster.

Personally I've never used a forward assist on an AR15, I wonder how many NZ shooters (non military) have actually needed one?

I had an UTAS516 and later switched to Schmeisser SP15.

I'd say the charging handle on the bolt is necessary for AR pattern straightpull. It is pain in the ass to push the ammo into battery with just the top charging handle.

Anybody care to explain to me the point of this thing?

Not trying to be dismissive or anything, but is this just to have something that feels like an ar15 or is there a practical purpose for these?

Straightpull AR15 can be used to shoot service rifle and IPSC manual action rifle matches.

I only fired a couple of sessions with an AR, but I found the ergonomics very comfortable and easy to shoot well. Not being a semi-auto is no great loss to me for hunting.I would have a straight pull A15.
But it should not have the rear cocking thing, it should be a cocking lever on the side of the action
