Came up very nice bro
I thought I would have a go making the most suitable rifle for my sort of hunting. It won't be every one's cup of tea, but its what I wanted. I've never had a purpose built rifle before but have used heaps of rifles in many calibers so new what would suit me best.
This is what I decided on:
Re-barrel my A7 270wsm (which I originally bought to convert to 7mmsaum) to 300saum. 20" Hardy barrel A7 contour, fluted and threaded.
Work done by Scott Trail. I collected it today, and the work is amazing.
It weights 6lb 1oz bare, and 8lb with ,scope and muffler. I have a Stug stock coming, so that will cut the all up weight back to around about 7lb. 'Scope at the moment is a 2-10 Conquest with Z600 reticle, although I might have a change around and put my VX6 2-12 CDS on it.
Sighting in and breaking in the barrel tomorrow if the WX behaves.

Dont waste your time chasing every last fps, it doesnt matter in the real world, it wont make a difference, all it will do is cause head aches and frustrations. And dont listen to silly old cunts
I think your first paragraph sums it up @Tahr. That's what we all should own.
I think the new stock will make a big difference to the rifle too.
Experience. What you get just after you needed it.
168 grn NBT, n550, 2976fps. 2 shots between cleaning (top pic).
150 grn Barnes, 2208, 3186fps. 2 shots between cleaning (bottom pic).
Copper fowling has pretty much stopped after 20 shots. Very pleased with velocities from 20" barrel. Wrapped with accuracy. Well done Scott Trail (gun-smith work) and Hardy (barrel)!
