Guys Razor is in the uk. Shooting off of sticks is considered the norm here.
You don't have as many trees to prop your self up on to steady your shot.
On most guided hunts the stalker (he's the guide) will insist that you use sticks.
Also no running shots. A lot of people on that island and you can't have bullets zippo around willy nilly.
Also most hunting stalking is done on farm land. Nothing like bush hunting NZ style. All countries have different systems styles and traditions, it good to have an open mind ah:)

Yes its private land for hunting here where we have to gain permission or "pay" for guided stalking.
We have access to woodland / edge of wood land fields.
Have used the Harris bipod for taking a shot off the ground prone , even off a downed tree when woodland stalking.
The beauty with the sticks is for a quick shot you can just use the 2 legs ( long bipod ) or if on open fields and vegetation is long you can use the double sticks standing up for a precision / steady shot!!!
Have had great fun practicing on gongs standing up with them at the longer ranges!!!

It is a spacer that allows the full size magazines to be used without any finger pinch. Love 'em!

not realy new but a few mods since built a year so ago so here's the 260 (new and improved)
tikka t3 action (blued)
trueflite ultra match fluted and duracoated 18" 1-8.5 twist
dpt over barrel
egw rail + burris z rings
Nikon 4.5-14x40sf
sitting in a boyeds laminated stock

still need to glass bed the action as its not the best fit in the world but its shoot able as is till funds allow

Attachment 60997 This has been my rifle for 30 years, its a 358 norma on a P17 action and a Douglass Preimum barrel 26 inches long built by Din Collins. just got it back from Scott Trail who fitted the T2 brake as the recoil was to much for me now. It kicks less than my 308 now, great brake

Nice long barrel too, proper old school. Good classic stuff.

Try a new recoil pad:thumbsup:nice to see you can get more use out your rifle though:)

I think it was the late great Bill Axbey that once quoted, the 358 Norma was the best kicker of all kickers he ever owned :D

It weighs 4 kilos and i get a 250 grain spitzer doing 3000 fps .The muzzle brake has upset the barrel harmonics and ill have to sort out a new load, its opened out to a three inch group

Well, I feel filthy now that I own a Savage and Leupold again, but the trouble with owning 2 nice rifles is when the weather forecast isn't the best you feel bad for taking them out in the rain - this rifle solves that problem.

This model (don't know about other Savages') has a pretty robust matte finish on it. Mine doesn't seem to rust and anything light on the surface comes off with an oily rag.
