Yes it's amazing how sensitive to the sight guns some hunters are. I'm not sure if they have looked on the gun porn thread and seen all the other "milspec & 'zombie' guns/whatever" owned by other members of the forum. Maybe they should look at their Lee Enfields and Mauser rifles and wounder where they came from, 60 odd years ago they were the "milspec & 'zombie' guns/whatever". All those flash mill dot scopes are a military design for combat so can also be classed as "milspec & 'zombie' guns/whatever".
Maybe we can have a divorce and end up NZ Shooting and NZ Hunting, that would be a shame because I like both hunting and shooting.
The hunters can throw the shooters under the bus with their "milspec & 'zombie' guns/whatever" because they don't like them. They will soon find that their long range sniper rifles are next on the wanted list. After that we can throw duck hunters and bird hunters on the heap. Don't worry deer and goat hunters you are being replaced by WARO and professional hunters. Shooters will sit back and laugh (actually no).
Sad state of affairs.
That may be the case in past but apparently not this time.
To be honest I would like to know the effectiveness of body armor also and consider wearing in the bush considering the way some people hunt in this country. Bet a 270 goes straight trough most of it. But at the end of the day, remember he doesn't even live in NZ so who cares.
If you are worried about "image to outsiders" personal insults and threats are not going to protect NZ firearms users and interests either.
trust me you don't wanna wear that shit whilst trudging through the forest it's heavy, restrictive, hot and at best unless it's military spec (which I can't comment on) it "may" be effective stopping light small arms fire but not at point blank.
and yes a .270 would most certainly pass straight through
Took some new photos after moving.

Got to love that middle selector stage for the AKs.
Remington 700 in old fashioned 7mm Rem Mag for open country when the short 308 won't do.
Have had this rifle for a while but added the stock this week, I will just leave it as it is for now. I am looking for some Alumina caps and will possibly get a louder and leave it at that.
Trueflight Ultra Match Barrel finished at 26",action trued etc..,Timney Trigger, Ken Henderson stock (Hi Tec Composites) and VX6.
Shoots 162 ELD X (3050-3100) + 180 ELD M (2890) well, haven't tried anything else yet.

Wtf is your issue? I thought you are usually quite measured and a reasonable guy. There are plenty of people on this forum with firearms similar or the same as the poster are they all tarnished with your rediculous anti brush cause they aren't a hunting rifle?

put a few rounds down range today out of an old MK111 .303 brit looks to have been made by Enfield itself...no photos but it was great to handle an old rifle again even if it has had a hard life and been butchered to hell in the past.misfired till we cleaned crud out of bolt head.....man it had been neglected.
my two zastavas both went sub moa while checking zero so a happy day.

Latest pop gun build. Faxon 16" 6.5 Grendel. Still waiting for dies and other bits to get it running.
^^ Nice - I wonder about cerakoting the lower and upper . . . . and turning the scope 90 degrees so it can be used as a carry handle without the windage turret attempting to make a hole in your hand, anyone every tried it??
Bought these in the last few months :

Is BT being imported in NZ ?
It's not really the same is it. When we get the "white racist" or "mall ninja" label from the media and then some self righteous hunting rifle owners parrot their bull shit. I guess it's a bit the same as labeling all farmers "bobby calf abusers" which I am pretty sure you detest.
I have spent the biggest part of my life shooting on NZDS ranges but also more recently on pistol and service rifle ranges. There are lots of great people is all shooting codes let's not detract from each other.
You can label dairy farmers what you want mate, I'm not a little girl (like some here...) that's gonna get all upset about being tarred with the same brush cos I know I'm not, but yes there are plenty that have been, I can admit that, although the "abuse" that was bought to light in the media was actually being carried out for the most part once the animals were taken off farm, by people who are not farmers.
Humble beginnings.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...f032f17d61.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...bb2138426f.jpg

I've been looking for a nice one of these for a little while, picked this one up recently and the scope arrived this week - looking forward to giving it a run on bunnies next weekend.

Just got my 1952 M70 Supergrade .270 back from Allen Carr- he re-blued it and polished the feed ramp. Very happy with the result.Attachment 90158

What did the rebluing cost approximately?
$375. He did a bit of polishing on the barrel and action to get rid of some light corrosion as well. His work is always really top notch.
