Well that was weird.
Original post was about the ESS being an excellent product. Well made and comfortable to shoot.
Smashed song gongs with a mate out to 335 and @Double Shot joined us on the first day for some fun. He bought with him some MK machining goodies and I couldn’t resist a level for the rail.
Will be selling the ESS as I’ve ordered the Ken Henderson Tikka Tactical option.
Will also be selling off the Athlon Ares too.
Was at the range today and a customer was there with his spiffy new DPT chassis that I only got to him this week.
Couldn't resist a pic for the thread! He's very pleased.

Couldn't wait any longer for Cindy to make up her mind about paying us so went out and bought this. Have always wanted a break down rifle. Nice and short, reasonably light. They feel good in hand and point very well. Should make a good bush weapon.

You could turn that thumbhole stock into a free standing pistol grip stock by hacksawing the bit between its bottom and the rear of the stock where it connects to :-)

Finally in my hot hands after 3 weeks wait. Cheers to @NZ_noddy your a champ for picking this up for me.
Off to gunworks for a couple improvements tomorrow then the load development will begin.
It came with load data for 130g ssts and 140g amax, I'm not a fan of sst's, I'll probably develop a eldx load with the 145g offering
You will be pleased with that. Its an easy calibre to get shooting well. I nipped mine back to 22" and it still performs very well. A good caliber for the one rifle person. In the bush to reduce length the recoil is very manageable to use without a muffler or brake, although I always use mine with a muffler on now. Of the off the shelf magnums its the most civilised in my book.Quote:

Nothing flash - Howa 1500 in .308 Win. Shoots every ammo that I have tried very straight. The thermal scope has three "profiles" (Weapon Selection) so I've set it up for standard and sub sonic ammo. Just installed the adjustable cheek rest (Matthews Fabrication) to obtain correct eye relief.
If you know anyone in Southland with pigs or deer on winter crops (private land) I am keen to get out !

Put a few rounds through the bergara today. Shows promise. Shoots factory corlokt good so they will be the go to bush load. Took a few rounds to settle but was shooting well by the end.
Good stock design with low perceived Recoil, pussy cat to shoot.

Couple new levers for me, sold the .243 BLR in NZ, and found one in .358 win takedown, the next day in my hometown of Fort Mac, in Canada, fellow held it for me, for six weeks, included 8 boxes of ammo, bargain at $1200.:cool:
Second is a 1895 Winchester in .270 win, just got it last week, unfired still unwrapped in box, Half the price, of a new one, I was looking at, score, :thumbsup:

I know I posted this here the other day but I haven't even fired it yet, I dropped it straight to Gunworks for some love in the form of Talleys ex low rings and a muzzle brake.
Can't wait to do some load development.
