Frankenstein 1917 Enfield III* bitsa purely for an old school iron sights hunt. Has a No4 butt stock and cocking handle, plus it has been reblued at some stage in its life.
The barrel has excellent rifling by the chamber and muzzle, but there is a patch of pitting mid barrel of all places.
I'm ordering a new Swannie and some Canterbury rugby shorts to complete the look. :D

The Gun is a Sea Service Pattern, which is pretty rare apparantly.
Loaded up some bombs yesterday, had a "me day" and pottered around home and caught up on a few things, got my reloading gear setup finally after shifting house few months back. Finished off my first box of eldx so rifle has fired a total of 76 rounds now and I've had it over 18 months... That's a record length of ownership for me!

Saxy looking optics there Ryan, what you recon of the binos weight?
Yeap it's awesome, great size on a hunting rifle, took it for a wee stalk round the bush the other day real nice being able to wind it back to 1.7 and pop the turret off and leave it at home just by pushing a button. Illumination is real nice and intuitive able to adjust without coming off target and can switch between circle dot or single dot , glass is awesome and have shot it out to 500m on 13.3x no worries
We Gem i found on TM few months back. Cut it to 18” chucked a dpt on and shoots like a dream.

I just got back from 35 days of actual hunting over the last couple of months ,this was also the first chance l got to take my new rifle build out hunting , another Allen Carr build of which l now have all my Hunting Rifles either built or worked on by Allen as he has always done a world class job .
I had it built to all my specs for me it just about the perfect all round Kiwi hunting rifle. It is a 284W built on a early 90's Rem action that was trued,Bolt fluted,Bolt Handle skeletonized & trigger worked. We put a 22inch True-Flite rifle barrel on,that after load testing & accuracy proved was docked & threaded at 20inch for the Suppressor, the chamber was long throated to seat the bullets way out in the little fat cases & gain maximum velocity.I have owned 2 of these 284W over the years & found it a highly efficient hunting round ,but always found the only limiting factor in performance was the rifles only had short chambers so the bullet seating limited powder capacity .
All that was pillar bedded into a Bell & Carlson Ti Stock & due to time constraints & the get the bloody Ark rain event we had a while back & then clean up /helping others ,l had to use a Loopy 2x7 for the trip, but will have my Nightforce 2.5-10 x 32 NXS mounted on it .All up loaded, with sling it weighs just under 7lbs,IMO great for shooting offhand or with out the Suppressor, which l prefer to do on the sketchy Tops for Tahr & Chammy where you are lucky to fire a couple of shots a trip.

With a long throat & magazine to match, your rifle you can seat bullets level with the base of the neck giving more case capacity than you would with the standard length throat. All my 284W's loved AR2209, my favorite Hunting Loads for Goats ,Pigs,Chammy & small Deer is the Speer 130gn BT pushed along by 58gn hitting around 3150fps ,my all round loads are the 140gn NP with 57gn hitting 3100fps & 145gn Speer with 56gn for 3000fps. My premium Tahr & Deer load is the proven 140gn Barnes-X pushed along to around 3000fps & the 160grn Speer doing around 2900fps ,l have taken Elk & Moose with those as well as plenty of good Reds here.
Over the course of the 35 days hunting with it ,we took basically everything we are lucky to have on offer across our great country from pigs in the scrub to Tahr on the Alpine peaks & the rifle build & caliber performed great & there is nothing l would change on the build .

Not into collecting but no nz gun nut would turn down the chance to have one of these.
Needs a barrel and a few other bits to get it back to original.
1944 BSA No.4 Mk1, picked her up this arvo. Has mint rifling and is in great overall nick. All that’s left is to choose a name and take it to the range, any suggestions? https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...cd130ddbfe.jpg
