No not an obendorf. No makers markings. Looks like a military barrel shortened. Just put some 150 sierras through her. Got up to 2660 in the short barrel. Will load some up tomorrow and see how they group at 100yds.

Brand new Sako 85 hunter in .243. Barrel shortened to 510mm, DPT suppressor, bedded, trigger lightened. Kahles 418TT in optilocks (rear mount shimmed 0.02"). Shooting 85gr sierra HPBT projectiles at 3100fps. Target shows a 3 shot group with new lapua brass and a four shot group same load in fire-formed brass. My inability to call mirage causes the horizontal stringing on the second group. As expected fire-formed load shoots a little high. Target was 506m. Needless to say, I am real happy with it so far
:)
Nice rifle Gillie
Nice shooting too mate!
Proper gun porn there Gillie very nice:)
@stug old mate:) when you get sick of her or wanna swap for something let me know
@nor-west do you have an oberndorf Mauser? My one is a bit of a bitser. No makers or proofs stamps on the action. The butt plate is actually off a pre64 Winchester. It is nicely made though and I'm looking forward to taking her hunting. Got some 150gr going 2660fps. Just need to check the zero with the open sites.
No I don't and after seeing what Graeme Champion has I realise I will never be complete until I have 20 odd Oberndorf mauser's sitting in my gunrack, you know he had four identical Kurz Mauser's in 250 Savage all lined up together just to start, and on it went every style every calibre.............the bastard...........:x_x:
Yep there are some beautiful rifles out there. Have you had a look at nitroexpress.com?
Not a new rifle, But I have finally got it set up the way I want it

New acquisition Kimber .280AI...
A hunting rig. To be bashed about.
Unfortunately the oldy but goldy Sako 75 is heading off soon.
I like the new Kimbers lightness and overall feel and fit but it ain't NO SAKO...![emoji41]
A new scope is on the radar. A vortex 2-10x44 I think it was called...? Simple, small but nice.
With one march you can buy two vortex, one on the gun and one getting repaired :D
The march or the vortex or both?:D
Sent from my GT-S5360T using Tapatalk 2
I meant vortex, it is a bit like the old range rover.
That set up looks the business @Philipo , you going to the colyton shoot next weekend?
Cool, you comming to the Collington shoot next weekend @Pop Shot
Yeah mate @Blaser, but as normal now Ive got to sight it in & hope nothing falls off it lol, might give you a holla this week.
And yup I'll be there at Collington, bringing a mate thats never done one of these before & think he'll get the bug
Colyton is going to be a funny one to set up I think. They want a straight forward shoot - nothing too complicated. But with prizes ideally we want to end up with one winner. Have to come up with something different there I think.
@Philipo, nice bit of kit there. Is that the same one you used at Hihitahi, with some accessories of course?
Yeah same bang stick as at Hihitahi, finally got the firing pin & extractor sorted, Leupold replaced my VX7 & its bummed reticle with a new VX6 and finally got a decent stock :)
Im looking forward to the weekend shoot, Im sure you can come up with some pain in the arse gizmo to straddle or something we'll have to poke our heads out of lol
@Philipo.... You bet your ass I'll be there!!
I'm heading out tomorrow afternoon to check my shooters zero (can only shoot to 100 yards). More than welcome to tag along if keen, flick me a text.
Pretty sure you're capable of making your own complications for a gong shoot @Philipo :D its going to be good to catch up with you bunch of steel hoons :)

Awesome. Where did you buy the Atlas from Cam? I've emailed Greystone to get their price but I'm sure there will be somewhere cheaper.
I can understand why you are selling the other rifle now - I'd much rather have this setup ;)
