    which guns

OK guys got my EOI in and waiting to hear if we get in, if we do here's the question, which guns to bring or buy before I leave the UK.
    I have the following
    ruger 77/22 Leopold m8 6x42
    CZ 601zkk 243 Leopold 3x9x40
    BSA cf2 270 Swarowski 6x42
    marlin 336 3030 Leopold m8 4x32
which would you leave behind or change, I will be on the north island near Whangarei

    Also bringing my bow.

Bring the Ruger plus CZ or BSA.
That'll cover you for pretty much everything

    Bring them all!

When you get here, you can stock up on more, especially semis which you can't own in the UK! ie AR15, Semi auto shotgun.... etc.
Wildman, Toby and Banana like this.

Bring them all in I say! How many are you allowed? They sound like some nice setups.

Unless you are into pig hunting you could make do without the 336. Both the .243 and .270 will be fine for most situations in NZ, if you had to pick one just go with what you prefer to shoot with.

Bring them all I know you want to. The ones missing from your collection can be found over here.
Velocity is thrilling, but diameter does the real killing.

The Ruger and the .270. Buy a shotgun and fishing rods, and you are all set - maybe a whitebait net also. If you are based in Whangarei, swap the rest for fuel to get you to the hunting areas.

I would also say find out how much and what paper work required. I would think the paperwork will be bigger than the cost since you will hopefully bring the firearms packed at the same time as any furniture or house hold items.

Bringing your guns over is easy.
I came over with Emirates, they emailed me a couple of forms which you fill in and send back to them.
Turn up at the airport where the police will take your guns from you and you pick them up from the police at the airport in NZ. (Didn't cost me any extra!)
Send a letter to your local firearms office in the UK to say you have permanently exported your guns.
You need to contact the NZ police to acquire a NZ visitors firearms licence before you arrive, and they will require details of where the firearms are to be securely stored etc.

The visitor's licence is good for a year, plenty of time to get the proper licence. As for storage, you could make a short term arrangement with a local gun shop, for a small fee, whilst you get the house sorted. NB Most of the ZKKs that turn up for sale are fairly well used by now so you are much better off keeping that .243, not to mention the amount of work involved in properly setting up new rifles.
