    Guns from USA

    Hi folks
Is there any limit to the number of rifles you can bring in from overseas? Was thinking on bringing in a few extra then selling them to cover the outrageous costs involved in getting a gun out of the USA. At what point are you considered a dealer?

Getting guns out of the States to be honest is a pain. The process is basically tied up with companies who file the paperwork for exportation and said rifle has to be shipped to NZ or elsewhere and that cost sucks. The only way to circumvent this, is if you are say a legal resident of a particular State, then you could legally buy a rifle and when you go back home, take it with you, no real export paperwork required that way, other than the paperwork say thats necessary for NZ customs and your local firearm laws.

Why don't you ask your arms officer if you would need a dealer's licence?

Or use the firearms enquiry contact form on the police website?

That way you can the answer from the horse's mouth, not the horse's arse.

I'd not call you a horse's arse. But if you insist...

There is no statutory figure on the number of firearms you can sell as a private individual, the law merely states that a Dealers Licence is required to sell firearms "in the way of his business" or "manufacture for sale" (Arms Act 1983 Section 5).
