    Is using one's backpack as a rifle rest suddenly not an option any longer?

    Now you've gotta have a fancy schmancy carbon bipod with 3 gears and a hand brake.

    No, you can keep using your back pack as a rest. It was my generation that perfected it for you. Thank me later.
