Investigating a custom rifle build & seeking owners reviews (good or bad) on the Hardy Project X. Looks to have some neat features & seems to be good value for money.

Haven’t played with a project x but got myself a hybrid 12 months ago (effectively a switch barrel project x) and very happy with it. Zero complaints, would definitely spend the money again and the service out of hardy has been top notch, despite what some fellas on here might try tell you.
Gun city are storing a few of them . If think there is still a 7 prc one in gun city Hamilton.
The one I played with was terrible but theirs duds from all manufacturers I’m sure
Hmmm you would think that Hardy has been operating so long they would have everything pretty sorted by now. I still see negative comments pop up regularly which makes me wonder. I'd love to support NZ made but don't want to gamble with my own hard earned money either.
Action flexed into stock over the average bedding like serious flex misfired probably 1 in 4 times mag well didn’t fit was binding on action garked the underside of the action it was jammed that hard crown was chipped to bits got it reversed and recrowned and it still wouldn’t shoot I took photos il try dig them out this evening
Presumably they would test fire every rifle build to check function & accuracy? Those issues shouldn't happen if the QC is kept in check.
I don’t have a Project X but this is my hybrid short action. I have a 24 inch 6.5prc & 18 inch 308 barrels . Obviously I need to change the bolt head to suit each barrel. The middle column of targets is a tall target test checking my dialing accuracy, 4-32 Nx8 and it came out at .988 . Left and right column are all single shots then changing barrel/bolt head and altering zero on scope . I was doing a single shot then changing caliber. I’m pretty happy with this and wanted a hybrid so I can remove barrel when I wanted too . My Nx has zero stop, so for the 308 I bottom out the zero to 15 which is where the stop is set, and change windage to 8r . And for the prc I raise elevation 5 to zero mark and correct wind age to zero as well . Ian @ Hardy’s was awesome to deal with and one day I’ll probably need a long action one.

Love my hardy. Not a project x but I'm sure they're mint.
What are the Hardy carbon barrels like?

You would think so they were less than helpful on this rifle it sounds like from a lot of people Ian is the one to deal with iv heard nothing but good things the misfire is also not uncommon across project x and hybrids that sort of money id sooner a sako . @Tahr always heard hardy barrels are good their also heavy beasts if that’s a consideration
The rifles sorry project x and hybrids not the barrels so much
Ive acquired a .243 Tikka varmint that Im unlikely to use. Tempted to put a 20" Hardy carbon on it in 22 creedmoor - should bring it back to about standard t3 weight.
