Has anybody else had accuracy problems with Sako 85 ?

I just bought a Finnlight 2 in .308 about a month ago. This was so I could set up and get hunting asap. To my dismay the thing wouldn't group, so back to Gun City who tested and found my assessment to be correct. It is now with Baretta for them to test, so hoping for a fast positive outcome.

Hope it works out ,, they will sort it out, the brand is big here and it has to be protected.
Every brand has a dud now and then, you wouldn't expect it and it's a bugger when it happens to you.

I’ve seen a few won’t shoot till they were bedded, then shot well.

Wouldn't group? Is that a spread over a 3 shot or 5 shot group due to heat... like, opening up as the barrel gets hotter?

    Interested to hear more.

Mostly 3 shot groups. Once bedded they grouped really well. Not just ones people have given to me either. The local gunsmith has had a number brought in.
I’ve seen some tikka T3 need oil cleaned off between the action and stock from factory too till they would shoot properly and some that are just fine.

It’s probably all down to when the rifle came off the production line, Friday night of a long weekend
Or if the chamber rearmer was near the end of its life. Human errors exist even with high end products, they would like you to believe otherwise but then why would we need after sales service
    Good luck

I have a favourite 85 in 308. When I bought it new it wouldnt group inside 3moa. I bedded it temporarily in reinforced car bog front to rear of receiver. Tack driver ever since.

Have the rifle bedded by a competent person. Accuracy issues on Sako 85s are usually sorted by bedding.

Had a 243 Varmint with the same issue.

The Finnlight II has a carbon fibre bedding surface and has a longer L plate than on the standard Finnlight and other 85 actions. Probably the same as on the Carbonlight, although I haven't seen one of those apart to confirm that.

    I wouldn't worry.

How bad is it shooting? What group size at what distance?
What scope & mounts are you using? What ammo are you using / have tried?

3 - 3 1/2 inch groups at 100 yds. Gun City tested it in a vice and had the same issues. Weaver Super Slam scope with Burris rings on a one piece rail. Sako guarantee 1moa 5 shot groups, so there is no way I am paying to have it bedded to do what it should. SAKO...Demand Perfection is their motto

Completely agree. You shouldn't have to pay $4k+ only to have the farkin thing bedded. I thought that they couldn't leave the factory without being tested and proven to shoot a 5 shot, 1 MOA group. Did you mount the scope yourself or did GunCity do it? Because I have seen some practices in there that would make your toes curl.

If they actually have shot it in a vise I would want a new stock minimum, no stock is designed to handle that.
