I can't help but notice how fussy gun owner/enthusiast is
I'm in the CNC metal industry and deal with precision engineering on a daily basis (and fussy customers)
but it seems to me that gun owner/enthusiasts fussiness is at the next level, haha...

I guess, gun is a hobby, so people have time to be fussy.
Do you think gun enthusiast is fussier than other or do they really need to be "just like that".
Just in general, not pointing to any particular person or member.

Do you exude a aura of needing to be told how to do something you are an expert in the field of or at you just young and talented an your reputation hasn’t caught up with how good you think your work is?

There is nothing wrong with striving for excellence! And if those people that show more tendencies to strive for excellence happen to be fellow gun owners then Im all for it. But Im not a fan of the attitude so prevalent in many Kiwi's of knocking those who do strive to be the best they possibly can, or want the best of workmanship, etc etc. Would have been nice to see your post say something along the lines of "Hi guys, I work in this really cool industry where we machine stuff to really tight tolerances, and some of our best customers are fellow gun owners that appreciate our attention to detail, thank you"

The internet has 'educated' a lot of experts and that would answer most of your question I think

I like fussy clients especially when they are satisfied all the more satisfying. Nothing gurrs me more than clients who want it slapped up quick "No ones going to see it" "Na use that bit I don't want to buy another" know it all clients are a different breed all together .

A Labourer uses their hands,

A Tradesman uses their mind and their hands

A Craftsman uses their heart their mind and their hands

I know what my clients are getting and I'm always a step ahead of the fussy ones .

So to clarify are we talking fussy or know it all?

For some sorts of shooting, high level of attention to detail is an advantage and the borderline OCD do enjoy target, benchrest long range springer and gunsmithing. Theres plenty of room fir rough as guts she’ll be right chuck it in the back of the quad blokes too but you dont see them at the gunsmith or forum.

BTW @MacyHunter your first few posts are marginal on the Turing test. They rehash common ideas without quite producing anything new and dont have a german thought style and syntax yet. ( not sure what the word for that is but there will be one). Are you using something to draft your posts ? Pop onto the introductions page and make yourself known. And welcome to the forum. ��

I would have said a directed explosion, rather than controlled. Same sentiment.

I'm in the same trade as you Snap 4T. I find that enthusiasts are all like that regardless of the object of their passion. A cheap used rifle & a mint condition-Sako etc still kill an animal but I know what one I'd rather be using.
Firearms owners usually know the value of the work they're paying for but expect the quality to match, whereas most customers can't appreciate the cost involved in a "quick" 3 hour job when you've got a few $M in workshop equipment and materials.
I have learnt over the years when the customer wants me to produce a work of art and when they just want quick & dirty, Sometimes their cost expectations don't align with what they want/need though.

I got an 80% surgeon back in the 70's.

You cant take them to the disputes tribunal, or the courts, unlike a gunsmith.

The ones that bug me are the ones that want to follow you into the workshop and watch you do the job.
I don't mind the ones that ask if they can watch as generally they keep out of the way and are respectful.
The ones that don't away seem to be in my way !!! as I move around from station to station.
(Making Hoses and minor Lath or Brazing work.)
