    Headlamps with red led

    hey all,

Im looking for a new headlamp.

Specifically sothing reechargable, aswell as a good light ouput and option to switch to RED for night time walking.

Have been looking at the LED Lenser MH6. MH8 and MH10.

Has anyone had any experience with these ? thanks

I have a nightcore hc65 that has a red led light on it. I'm a bit funny about using the red light in the bush though in the event someone mistakes me for a critter.

It is a good unit though.

Yip, +1 for the HC65 unfortunately stock is really low all over.
NZ supplier is out of stock so we're waiting patiently.

The mh8 works really well. The green is good at night too. I use mine nightshooting for getting around. The low power is a good general use and the double tap for 10 seconds high beam is good for a quick look for a downed animal or finding a route ahead. I haven’t used up the battery in a night yet and I do some 6 hour stints.
I went to this over the mh5 as I had to change the battery in the night.
The only down side is the need for its own magnet charging cable to USB. It will not take a general purpose cable like the old ones. But will take 2 AA

I use an older maxtoch H01, and it has a bright red LED as well as the usual white LED. I also have the newer H01R,which has 2 pathetic red LED's. I'm not even sure why they bothered putting them on.

Long story short - If you can get your hands on Maxtoch H01, you will be onto a winner. And if someone want to sell me their H01 - please DM.

There are plenty of Nightcore HC65 on ebay for sale, not sure if they sell imitations?
    Anyone knows?
Or you can stay within 300 yards and keep life a lot simpler.

How bright is the auxillary red light on the nightcore? The Led Lenser MH10 uses a red filer, so still ha the original lights power output wth a red filter.

I have the MH10 and can't fault it, but have not used it for long periods.
Overseas I used the site www.torchdirect.co.uk and found them very well priced.

I use the red light at night on an SEO3, and love it. I find I use that head torch more than my others, more than sufficient for walking and general use.

I have a MH something, bit older LED lenser headlamp and it’s got a red light on the back by the battery. Avoid at all costs cos it’s a pain in the ass, touch button to turn on and always gets knocked on in my bag so is always flat when I need it! Can’t stop it turning on.

Just personal experience and it frustrates me no end!

Doesn’t have a red filter for front light either.
