Help in Auckland required. Snapped scope ring bolt

Anyone able to help me in Auckland asap. I have snapped a scope ring base bolt in my action. I do not wish to attempt to drill and tap it out myself as I do not have a drill press or the appropriate tap. I’m based on the north shore. Worse case I shall take my rifle on a visit to Christchurch this week and get gunworks to fix it for me.
    Thanks in advance. Name: IMG_8880.jpeg

That’s what I was using when it happened. It was due to the tread not going the hole way through the action and the bolt being too long. Lesson learnt. Will need to source another tally base screw though.

Well, at least it had the decency to snap with around 1mm to spare.

    Any loctite holding it in?

You might be able to get away with cutting slot in the top with a dremel for a flat head screw driver.
If that fails, then its a drill and tap job.

Is there enough of it proud to get some vice-grips or grippy pliers onto?

I tried both those options and sadly the steel is so soft it just stripped my makeshift flat head and no not enough proud for vise grips. It’s ok. It may give me an excuse to the wife to get it the barrow shorted and bolt flueted at the same time

The range of what we think and do is limited by what we fail to notice. And because we fail to notice that we fail to notice, there is little we can do to change; until we notice how failing to notice shapes our thoughts and deeds

A left hand Remington? - its ruined.

Send it to me for safe disposal. No charge, and I'll even pay freight.
