I was wondering whats your opinion on the Hi-Tec Composits stocks?
I have 5 McMillan stocks... but am looking for a light weight build, so comparing different lightweigh stock manufacturers.
Anybody have opinions on how they compare in quality/ stiffness / inletting compared to (in my experience) McMillan?
How is the grip when wet?
Have you looked at Southfort / Accutech ? They do a lightweight carbon hunting stock.
Their website seems to have disappeared though which is not a good sign..
@308mate I could be wrong, but read an article last dated early 2019 about the local councel fighting to closedown Southfort, something to do with running a business without resourse consent in a residential area. Notice there hadnt been any action on his FB site aswell since about the same time.
Hope I am wrong and the guy is still going strong!
The hi-tec composite stocks are every bit as good as the McMillan stocks. Fit and finish is top notch.Quote:

I have a McMillan edge tech carbon stock and two hi-tech stocks in the standard rem 700 hunter pattern.
The Hi-tech stocks are better in every way that i can see. The more recently manufactured McMillans may be different tho.
Ken is making a very high quality stock.
@Tahr I think that's the company that done the design work for Southfort Labs logo and website etc. I'm not 100% sure where the company is based at the moment, or if it is still operating.Quote:

As far as I can see Mcmillan are using an older process than can never give the same finish as HiTecs process. The HiTec stocks are built like tanks for sure.
Hi Tec stocks make Mcmillans look like a kids primary school science fair project. Best fit and finish of the lot, super strong design fully enclosed barrel channel. This is my one Ken inletted for my sako 85 before he was doing the bedding blocks for them. It weighed 500g and ones I have had since with bedding blocks have all been around 650g

Does anyone here have experience with an HS stock vs a hi tec stock? looking at picking up a Mod 7 and I can get the new HS Mod 7 for about 1900 vs buying a stock mod7 for around 1400 then buy a hi tech for 1100 by the sounds of things so 2500 all up.
Hs stock are good but very heavy.( I even went to visit their factory in South Dakota)
My hi stoc for my Remington 7 is very good. I do not regret the money spent at all.

Hey mate, Im looking into these for my tikka at the moment. How do you find the tactical stock/ shape for standing up shots and bush stalking?Quote:
