Hikmicro Alpex 4K - Legal to hunt with on public land?

I have an Alpex 4K here in Romania and I'm trying to figure out if it is worth coming to NZ with it (relocating permanently next year) or just sell it. I know you can't hunt at night in NZ on public land, but the Alpex can be used during the day and the LRF, ballistic calculation and recording features are nice and I'd like to make use of them. Assuming you don't have an IR torch mounted to the gun or anywhere in your pack, would DOC have any issues with this? I see the scope is sold at Hunting & Fishing stores, but I don't know if that's with the assumption it's going to be used on private land or something.

The restriction is on "night vision equipment" , which would include your scope regardless of the channel being used, and an IR source has nothing to do with it.

It also depends who you talk to at DoC as to whether or not its a problem to run only daytime channel, because from their point of view if you have the nightvision you can or could have used it. Depending on your visa situation I wouldn't gamble with firearms stuff here.

Got it, thanks for the info. I have a Swarovski 6-24x50 that I can bring so there are no issues. Are there situations where you could use an Alpex? Is it just on private land, as in a farmer giving you permission to hunt the land or hunting guide businesses that have their own property? I guess what I'm trying to figure out is if the scope would ever be useful for me in New Zealand or if the situation in which you could legally use it is pretty rare and I may as well just sell it before coming over. I would just hate to sell it and then realize after I'm in NZ that I probably should have kept it. I don't know any farmers and have no connections down south so I imagine the chance of me finding private land to hunt on is rather remote?
