208gr A-Max’s and 230gr Berger OMT, SMK 220g mostly penciled through requiring multiple shots, I’ve had the odd tumble in deer body shots but slow killing compared to The Lehigh’s are the quickest killers for body shots I’ve used so far. With the amount of shooting I do I don’t know if I can afford running a 338.?
Yes the .338 had much better range and the 300gr bullet is longer than the 240gr .300 whisper bullets meaning bigger knife like wounds. The red hind in the pic above was taken at a little over 200y.
All those bullets you listed are not suitable for subsonic hunting. The .300 whisper was designed around the longer 240gr SMK and the WC 250gr which tumble through bone and flesh much better than a shorter bullet that will pencil through.

Ive sbot plenty of goats with both the .300 and the .338 whispers and had mixed results from boiler room shots from dropped on the spot to continued eating for close to a minute before falling over. Regardless of cal with subs a head or neck shot gets it done faster. Treat a heart lung shot like an bow hunter would.
