This week while unpacking 12 ton of ammo and reloading components Toll gave notice they will not transport ammo and firearms from the 8th July.
They quote Health and Safety for their staff as the reason. We understand gangs may have threatened Toll staff driving or in the warehouse is the reason for this call. I suspect it goes a lot deeper than that...
Toll have been the only courier service transporting ammo in NZ. Mainfreight can take pellet size shipments still.
This is a real kick in the guts to the shooting trade with no easy solution in sight.
Woody it absolutely will become a problem and it will have an effect on the smaller firearms retailers first. This situation will place their businesses in jeopardy if an alternative transport arrangement to Toll isn’t found.
Some sort of stagecoach then, with someone riding shotgun?
What about Armourguard?
Linfox would be the best bet as they do smokes and collect cash
Probably better off trying to get every dealer in NZ to fund a co-op where they employ someone to drive ammo and guns around.

Try living on an island (or anywhere remote nz) the time and cost of traveling gets prohibitive, rural Australia must be a nightmare for logistics....
Last firearm I brought was online, so filled in the paperwork etc etc but it can't get picked up from the courier by anyone other than me.... (Covers couriers arse) so trip to town.
Things have sure changed in the last few years
Toll need to be told by the big players H&F, guncity if you don,t deliver our firearm/ ammo you don,t deliver ant other products. The problem is theft/ lost items within courier company’s is high.
