How to clean my Marlin 795 .22 SA

    Hey guys,

As i've explained before im new to the scene and I dont really have anyone to show me how things are done so i might ask some real basic dumb questions.

I have just got a Marlin 795 .22 SA (managed to do a trade for a dog kennel i had).

Now my question is how do i clean it? i got a copper brush thing to fit onto my cleaning kit that i bought for my 7mm 08. But when the guy at HnF was showing me how to clean the 7mm08 he said to only run patches and brush from the breach end to the rifle tip, so my problem is it would appear you have to go the other way on this Marlin 795. Also the kit didnt come with any gun oil, do i need to buy this or is there a common oil you can use instead? Also reading up on here people say yo should really only clean the barrel on a .22 every few hundred rounds but the action should be cleaned every shooting. Is cleaning the action just a matter of giving it a light brush with the toothbrush looking thing in the kit and a wipe over with an oiled rag?

Any help would be great - again sorry for the dumb questions.
