How crucial is the crown?

Would this slight corrosion affect accuracy? When new (10 years ago) this rifle was about half MOA. The best I can get with it is just shy of 1.5 MOA. This will still (and has) knock down anything within 200m, but I am concerned anything past that will have more chance to miss vitals, and so I’m reluctant to push past that.
What are your thoughts?

@gundoc probably the best guy to ask.

If it was mine I would look at getting it recrowned, or doing it myself using a marble/ball bearing and some valve grinding paste or similar.

Crown looks fine to me as far as I can tell from the pic. Unless it wasnt cut true from manufacture I doubt it is the problem.
For crown to be faulty or damaged it has to provide uneven gas. You will generally have a lot worse accuracy than 1.5" as well

I'm wondering if it's not the crown, but possibly a buildup of copper inside the bore.

The crown actually looks OK but there could be a problem in the bore near the muzzle. Give it a through clean and check the bore from the muzzle end with some magnification. Near the muzzle it takes bugger all to upset accuracy, mind you, 1'5" is fine for most things.

That would have to be negotiated. Not everyone likes the same pies. Whilst I am partial to steak/ kidney and steak /mushroom I am aware than not everyone else has such refined tastes. As for brands, sheffields pies are good, Pie bin out Rangoon aren't too shabby either. I haven't had enough decent fresh jimmys pies to comment nor Fairlie pies which are meant to be awesome.
There was a pie shop between Hamilton and Tauranga that did as good a pie as I've ever had but only been there once.
I digress-back to rifle stuff

I tried that during chapel at boarding school. During a lull in the sermon, fittingly. A loud "PAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARP" resonated from the wooden pew. Thanks mate. I’ll give it a good clean out, and take it for a shoot after the lockdown. See if that makes any difference.

Looks fine to the eye, but I’ll try get some magnification onto it. The original group was from the gun builder before it left the factory in the states. I assume with handloads. I’m only shooting factory, so that will likely make some difference too

Ah I see.
A good clean out as Gundoc suggested and perhahps try a few differnt brands and loads of ammo, it may just not like the one you happen to be using.

Take up the offer if considering a bushpig...chop and re-crown, send cut bit with old crown for the $20 and pie...after all the offer was for the munted crown.

Yeah not sure if I can even do that as it has a full over barrel suppressor. I suspect I would have to cut the receiver end of the suppressor down a corresponding amount :)
Will give it a good clean and see how that goes. I have a few brands of ammo too so will try them and see if I can tighten it up
