As per title - what is the easiest way to get the shitty camo tape residue off of scope tubes? I have had a suggestion of meths and a cotton bud - works about as well as painting the house with a toothbrush... any better ideas?:oh noes:

Maths and cotton ball
White spirits, brake clean, meths, they'll all good light no fires and open the windows
Thanks fullas - sorted it out: what a bastard of a job. Why do people insist on using tape? Please use a neoprene cover on a long range scope people, it makes more sense...
For future reference, WD40 works wonders on stuff like that while also smelling amazing.
Did you get @Philipo to come and remove it?
That orange clearer stuff works well - dissolve-it or something like that.
Heads up people...
THE best product for removing tape residue - even old dried up tape residue - is Eucalyptus Oil. Because it's not like other distilled petroleum products it's safe to use on plastics and perspex (like your boats windscreen for example) and naturally it doesn't affect the finish on your scopes, etc. I use a paper towel with a dab of oil then soak/massage gently.
Label off funnily enough. Also fyi locktite primer moves most shit and their citrus cleaner ain't too shabby
I used painters hand wipes, worked a treat & came up clean & dandy. Funny as when @BRADS rubs long black things he normally ends up getting a facial :o hahahaha
Good to hear you received the scope.
Sorry about the tape, but neoprene covers piss me off and that was fitted on a hunting rifle.
If all those wonderful solutions don't work there are wipes we use for removing elastoplast residue call Remove:
They work bloody great and one small wipe will remove a lot of sticky crap
