+1 for the Ruger American, When I picked mine up in 223 I thought I would hate it. The bolt had edges that cut my fingers and thumb to blood and it would catch and jam as it was pushed home. An evening spent annoying my SO working the bolt back and forward smothered in Flitz paste turned it into a slick machine. Accuracy wise I have no trouble with neck and head shots on my goat hunting with a modest optic albeit under 200m. At the range my mate gets pissed off shooting against me with his $6k worth of heavy barrel kit and optic. I just tell him I'm a better shot but he wont let me near his rifle to prove it lol.
