Can anyone shed some light on these? Age/background. Got given a heap of old bullets etc. Thought I might use em one night this week....

CAC ammo from Auckland. Got probably 5-6 pretty tidy full packets of them. given to me by the next door neighbour years ago after the hubby died. used a few up before I realised they might be collectable. Maybe not.
seemed to work ok on possums
I used to use those in the mid late 60s, if i remember correctly
Got sim old paper shotgun shells also but I dont think I'll give them a bang
$2.50 a packet in the late 70s, I think the sub sonic packet was red
Yep used those in the 70's, still should be ok to use.
70's and iirc theres a target printed on the inside of the box.

Back in the day, they were 50c a packet and petrol was 50c a gallon.
Jeepers I have two boxes like that. They were left overs from when I use to take Dads .22 to school for target shooting - that was 1974/75 and yes they have a target printed on the inside. Fired off a few a couple of weeks ago and they went off as they should.
iv got an old pack of what I think is that same stuff - its green though where yours in blue
I knew a guy who as part of a syndicate bought 250 k rounds of .22 from CAC when they closed down.
I asked him ;"What did you shoot with all that ammunition?"
His answer was both simple and profound : "Everything".

Used to by at the local hardware shop early seventies.
No licence asked for and I guess not required.
In school uniform 13-15 years old.
62 cents a box from memory.
It was really desperate times when I had to do this.
We had to do it when the old man hid his supply or we used all his up.
Used up our fish and chip money.
