Mate is looking to chop his 24" bbl. Not very familiar with the cartridge but have run an 18" 260 and that went mint(new owner shoots 143gr eldx @ 2800fps+) but unsure how the creedmoor handles a short barrel. Any info appreciated

Hey mate just chopped mine to 16”
Will run some ammo over the chrony next time I am out and let you know!
Warm Barrels!
As always the answer is 'it depends' Does he want to make it a little easier to carry with a suppressor on as a general purpose hunting rifle, or does he feel the need to chop it super short in the bushpig style?
I cut mine to 20 inches so when combined with a 4" forward suppressor it handles nicely. Once you start chopping a cartridge like the Creedmoor below 20" the fps lost per inch of barrel goes up very quickly.

I would have thought 20" was as short as he would go. Does a bit of range work but wants to suppress for that and hunting so a 24"bbl + suppressor will be a mare to deal with in the snow damage of the kaimanawas
