Howa 1500 .243 mods
Hey guys, picked up my first rifle recently, an older .243 Howa 1500, I have taken her apart and lightened up the trigger, had it shortened by dpt, it came with a hardy suppressor which I’m happy with so far. Has a Burris 3-9 scope which I’ll be looking at swapping out for a Leupold or something similar at some point. Is there anything else people normally do with these rifles?

You can spend a lot on any rifle and not improve it at all. If it's got a hogue clammy plastic stock getting rid of that would be all I'd suggest. The howa hact triggers are superb and that Burris will do you fine till you break it or feel you need more magnification ( you really don't)

I have an older model with hogue stock in 308.
Pros of the hogue: grippy when wet. Cons - it flexes and can touch the barrel causing inaccuracy. If you have that issue then you can shoot it off a pack. I've come to really like shooting off the pack and find it gives heaps of options for different scenarios.
It would be great if there were more laminate stock options for them in NZ.

i second the burris, without knowing which one you have you would probabily have to move up to min grade of a VX3 before you would be gaining anything over an entry level Burris.
