    Howa 1500 308 scope suggestions

First post looking to pick some brains about scope options.
Howa 308 beserka stock, previous owner had it shooting 1/2inch Moa looking for a medium to long range scope opinions not wanting to spend more than about $1500. Had a 5-25 previously.
Will just be for hunting no target shooting.

    And thoughts on this scope

Hopefully can get it soon after COVID lockdown is over

You must be fit and strong that is quite possibly the heaviest hunting rig you could get
Seriously though it depends what you call long range too and if you prefer to dial or hold over.
I reckon a 3-15 would service most of your needs out to ethical 308 hunting distances.
Look at a vx5 or burris hd in those mag ranges both come with zero stop turrets which is real handy if you dial

    OK YOU ASKED...
for hunting....bush stalking its far too big,far too heavy, has far too much top end...far too expensive...the chance of leaving on top magnification and being able to tell sex of flea on deers hide might be well and good but plurry hard to tell which brown bit you looking at.
UNLESS you intend to be hunting at long range and do far more sit n snipe across gullies its far too much scope for hunting.
3x9x40mm is most commonly used hunting scope for good reason.

Yea I’m not the smallest lad in the world mid weight body builder sorta deal 😂
that was my thinking that it would be abit to much power especially on a 308. Percent thank you

We have a few set up for more of the thicker bush stuff will only be used in open situations. I thought it was abit much power from the previous owner just wanting the ability to reach out slightly but thinking 3-15 would be abit more ideal. That’s why I thought id pick a few brains here. (Especially with the 308 not being efficient long range)

In all seriousness you say the rifle is 1/2 moa capable. Are you ?
I'm gonna tell you something you probably don't want to hear.
Those stocks are really comfy to shoot no doubt, but they are heavy, then there is the heavy barrel that is gonna be a beast of a rifle to cart about the hills.
I personally think you've made a poor choice for a hunting rifle but that's my opinion, really have a think before you waste time and money setting this rifle up if it really is what you want and need for the type of hunting you want to do.
I also urge you to think about what long range hunting is to you and are you capable ? Its not just a matter of point and shoot.
It's something that takes a lot of time, patience, practice and money to become proficient at.
End of the day it's you money and your choice, I'm just trying to save you a little time and money.
There are better medium range (and thats all you'll be doing with a 308 I would pick) rifles out there that will be better suited to your needs.
A rifle like you have pictured above is far more suited to competition shooting.

Thanks for the opinion appreciate it’s just asking about the scope choice which has been answered. It’s not going to be used out in the tight bush much we have much lighter more set up only more open situations. Weight I’m no conserned about especially in the situations where it will be used. But appreciate the opinion. Just something different to play around with at this stage.

I think @Sarvo has a 2nd hand Docter scope that might fit your requirements.

Just a note in regards to rifle weight; Remember the lads of the old days lugged around a Lee Enfield no sweat for hunting.

    You are keen.
You wont see me lugging my 26" heavy barreled .308Win Howa Bravo around the hills hunting. I'm sure mine is tipping the scales around 7kg.

I have Weaver Superslam 3-15, a Bushnell elite 3-9 and Burris 3.5 -10 or a Minox ZA5 2-10 if you want something cheaper.
