Howa 1500 barrel for a Weatherby Vanguard action

Hi I have a weatherby vanguard .243 and was looking at getting a bigger caliber. I thought I might be able to get a new barrel although can find any for a weatherby vanguard. I know the Howa barrels use the same threading so was just wondering if a Howa barrel would actually work for the weatherby action. Cheers

same action, if you are dealing with the vangard
will still need to be fitted and headspace checked by a gunsmith

    Easy peasy.

Buy barrel in clambering you want.

Get a competent gunsmith to check head spacing etc and then fit it.

Aside from the name and Calibres their the same thing(the howas have a 3 position safety whereas the vanguard S1's have a 2 position)

To be honest it would be way cheaper to sell your current rifle and buy a new one in the desired chambering.

Sorry but probably won’t work for a .243 action

I have someone with a Remington 710 in 270 that has fired less than a packet of ammo looking for a new home. By the time you get a barrel and get it headspaced, you could have a near new rifle..He would probably let it go for around the $650 mark then you still have the 243 for when you want it...

You can buy new Howa receiver and barrels just by themselves. No need for a gunsmith.

What's a vanguard worth? Have a 270 in the cupboard that I've thought about upgrading

The same as a second hand howa in the same condition, it’s the same thing out of the same factory with a different name stamped on it.
