Another sweet wee small cal rifle. Bit of a run of these on the forum recently. Great to see.

That’s come up really well. Terrific timber. Looking forward to having a few shots with it.

That is a neat build! What do you use it for? It looks like it would be a wicked varmint rifle for picking off bunnies etc at distance.

The stock looks very much like the Sako A1 varmint stock - is it copied from that? Is it a one-off or production item?

It would be great to see some more pictures and details of the build and shooting you do with it if you have the time. It's always good to live vicariously through others projects.

    Thanks for posting!

Very observant as the stock is a copy of the late Sako A1/S491 Varmint stock it was cut from a Walnut tree that was removed from a local Caravan Park. The bloke who slabbed it out was going to burn this piece as he reckoned it was to plain.Hatcher rifle stocks cut it out for me and I sanded/carded to shape and applied a hand rubbed finish.
It is my 3rd 20 PPC the other two being on a Sako A1 (now a 20/222 and a Sako S491 (now a 22 Dasher)
The build started from being given the slab then picking up a Mini Barreled action cheap.
I have some build picks on my ph I think

As to what it will be used for well predominately spotlighting foxes and an occasional afternoon picking of rabbits as far away as I can hit them.
While being great fun I find a relaxing yet frustrating way to spend some time.

Thats cool. We hear a lot about repressive gun laws in Aus yet you guys seem to have a lot of choices and get your hands on some really neat gear.

How many shots would you expect the barrel to last for?
Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing, and right-doing, there is a field. I will meet you there.

My first 20 ppc saw 3000 and could still with a clean barrel put 3 into 2 inches at 500m. But it went to shit very quickly after the 3.

It is daily getting harder over here the oppressive left leaning Goverments we have are turning the place into a 3rd world shithole (rant over)

That sounds like a lot of fun and bad bad news for critters! I've often thought that those sort of ballistics in a 'walkabout' weight varminter would be a useful rifle. Should be easy enough to keep sight of your impact even in a rifle that's not heavy to lug about the hills here. Would be interesting to see how they went on our wallabies here.

Thats some cracking speed for the 40gr

Ive already got a 1:8 twist 20 Hornady Hornet which shoots pretty much every bullet weight and I recently started shooting a Howa Mini 204R and boy is a easy gun to like shooting bug holes but the 1:12 twist is annoying.

You mentioned your barrel is a 1:12 twist but when I checked the Cheetah website he lists a 1:10 ? is he doing more twists now ??
