    Howa Mini owners opinions

I’m thinking about buying a Howa mini and having a play with the 300 Blackout round ( been offered one but its not nearby and Id be buying it sight unseen , I’m not worried about the condition of it rather the quality of the design, parts and the finish etc )
I’ve never really considered them before and seem to remember reading that people weren’t overly impressed with the stock or magazine or something along those lines .
Would anyone who has one be keen on sharing their thoughts ?

I really like mine. Shoots well. Only gripe is the mag release which really pokes out. Quick fix with a hack saw and a file.

Love mine shoots tight groups and is nice and light and compact easy to get in and out of the truck quickly. 10 shot mag is great for shooting roos ect. But the mag does seem a tad loose and people have had issues with them falling out as the latch is to long and would catch on things, i havnt had this happen but can see it will sometime so plan to cut it down a bit shorter. Stock is not great but i find it does the job. I really like it would recommend.

As above comments but apparently the current model has a revised mag release and is improved.
I like mine in 223,shoots well but wish it was the 1 in 8 barrel they have now.

I like my Mini 223 heavy barrel or varmint model as they are known overseas. Mine is in 1:8 twist and I bought the bare-action so I could put it straight into an inexpensive Oryx chassis. Placed a pic-rail so I could use a variety of scopes. Lightened my trigger from the factory to around 2.5 lbs by unscrewing the grub-screw, apparently some overseas owners have lightened their trigger more than that, but not my cuppa tea. I also upgraded my factory bolt handle.

Lastly I remember reading somewhere that the Minis are a copy/variant/homage to the Sako Vixens? Maybe the more educated gurus can shed some light.

I've got a stainless one in 7.62x39 which the more i use, the more i like it!
Howa bolts are similar to the early Sako's, and i don't mind the HACT trigger being two stage.

The only dislike was the plastic trigger guard/magazine (concern about torquing up the action screws)!
I put DIP bottom metal on it, there is also an aftermarket internal box magazine with hinged floorplate - google Jefferson Outdoors.

    IN .223

My boy has one in 223 and the thing shoots like a laser. Great fun, cheap, light. Not a huge fan of the plastic stock, I prefer the Howa Hogue stocks if going synthetic, but still doesn't seem to affect the pew pew hitting the target time after time. I would consider getting a 6.5 Grendel if the boss allowed me.

I have a 6.5 Grendel in a MDT chassis purchased just before lockup.

Will let you know what I think once I have fired it but the quality looks good.

Did u get the MDT LSS chassis one that Guncity was selling?

I went on the website yesterday to buy that exact rifle in 7.62x39 but it had sold.
Lots of rifles have sold over the lockdown. People with nothing else to do I guess.

I'm gonna buy a Howa Mini barreled action in 7.62x39 instead and drop in in a Boyds

Here is the Jefferson Outdoors link. Looks good but only for Grendel and 7.62x39
