Howa mini trigger upgrade that works ?

I found some older threads regarding mini bolt -in aftermarket triggers and at the time it would appear none of the triggers that claimed to fit did....
I would like to put something like a trigger tech or timney in the grendel so hoping someone out there has possibly found a trigger that actually does what the label on the box claims...
So has anyone found an upgrade that actually fits and if so - which one ??

p.s have already done a wee spring chop but would feel safer to me to replace with a/market trigger than cut spring back further...

I fixed my howa mini trigger with the cut spring jobby and it's perfect . All I could ask for in a hunting gun. It breaks about as nice as my lightened tikka triggers and it's safe as tried all the things to make it go off and it hasn't. Sure it's no timney but it's fine for what I need

Yeah I’ve done the springs on all my Howas as well. It’s a no brainer mod if you are doing any longer range work.

It’s fair to say I struggle to get my head around why you’d need to replace the factory trigger with an expensive aftermarket trigger group. The HACT is very tuneable to individual preference, you can get them really precise and dependable. I suppose if you don’t like a two stage and only want a very light single stage then go for it.

That said the Howa Minis are proving to be a good base with which to build bespoke wee rifles, what with the chassis / suppressor / optics options available.

That would be great if you could bring one with you @ROKTOY , be good to compare with mine.
I have taken a little off the spring but wasn't sure how much - the internet seems to differ on how much can be safely removed.
How much have you guys removed of the factory spring?
I hear ya @Flyblown but as you mentioned not a big fan of two stage triggers, just not what I am used to.

The easyest howa trigger mod that actually works is simple

    1) sell the howa
    2) buy a tikka

    Sorry guys couldnt resist

I have a Tikka already - and that trigger has the spring swap out and is excellent in my opinion and is how I would like the howa to feel. At the moment howa still quite heavy, and it feels 'gritty' to me.
The Tikka is definitely a great factory trigger in comparison

I removed 1.5 coils and apparently if you take a little too much just wind the adjusting screw in to tension it again

My howa 308 has a timney. And my mini has a tuned and lightened single stage trigger from an older howa. In both cases minor (and with my skills rather rough) inletting of the stock.

To be fair I'd have stuck with the two stage triggers but I got the timney cheap second hand, and I had the old single stage sitting around....

I took another half coil off spring and has improved the weight slightly more .
A big thanks to @ROKTOY for bringing his mini around with the Aussie spring kit and I was impressed - felt like my Tikka with it's replacement spring - so seriously considering doing the same.....

Thanks for the input guys, most appreciated

What's the story with fitting a timny in the mini? Some say you can't some say you just need to do some trimming??
Not interested in swapping springs, had enough of the two stage.
Getting varying pull weights from 1ish lb to being able to hang the gun by the trigger and it not going off.
