    THE HUMBLE SAVAGE MARK 2

I shot this pair for the first time in ages recently and had forgotten just what sort of performance can be wrung out of these little rim fires. My friend "zimmer" was asking for a few details so I thought I'd share a pic here.
Both receivers have been threaded and fitted with match chambered Maddco stainless barrels. the HB sits in an MDT chassis with a modified Rifle Basix trigger. The sporter version is bedded into a Boyds Rim Fire Hunter and is fitted with an Apachee trigger kit from the US.
My logs indicate that these guns have fired 13,360 rounds. Both have proved totally reliable with eight 5 & 10 shot magazines. The sporter is a handy, well balanced plinker but the HB (with proven lot numbers of SK/Lapua) will run with pretty much everything I have here. I was initially concerned about the durability of these cheap actions but neither show any signs of serious wear and will comfortably see me out!

Mine has been plagued with extraction issues even after replacing all extraction related parts and a trip to a gunsmith.

I bought a new one from Wilsons in Whanganui last year and had about 1 bullet out of every 20 stick. They sent it back to have the chamber slightly reamed and no problem since then. They said that here has been history of a batch doing that. Was fixed under warranty and back to me within a week. I put a Nikko Stirling 3-9x40 and DPT ca on it. I've never used a suppressed .22 before and am blown away how quiet it is!

Yep, I had one that just wouldn't extract. Had lots of work done to it and it just kept on sticking.
