What would a decent price be for this rifle? Overall good condition.

Paid 400 for mine
But yours looks to have better furniture

Ideal project rifle, easy to have reamed to its big brother the 9.3x62 (about $150) components and loaded ammo are easier to get than for the 57.
People are always impressed by the size of the hole in the barrel.

I sold one for around $500 a year or two back, but not as tidy as that one.

I agree with the above, get it re-chambered to a x62, much easier to get dies etc. Plus many 9.3 bullets are quite hard or heavy and need the extra velocity to open up well on game.

What a nice old rifle, wish I had one. Counter to what I see above may I suggest that the rifle could be left as is. The rifle looks as though it is pretty much original, other than the glossy stock and is probably 80 years old or so. If you are anything like me you will have plenty of scoped hunting rifles so won't need to butcher an old rifle for something to shoot deer with so perhaps it could be kept for the odd Sunday afternoon hunt. Swallow hard, buy the dies and correct projectiles, cases can I believe be made from 7.92 x 57 mm cases if necessary and make up some loads. There is plenty of load data about if you look. The long sight radius should permit reasonable accuracy out to 100 metres or so. Take it out and enjoy.

What he said! And there is variation in chamber dimensions with x57s, not all will be suitable to ream to x62. Also make sure tang is relieved on these or they all crack if not bedded. Original rifles like this should be preserved IMHO..

Nice old rifle , leave it alone , they are not worth a lot but it is still a nice firearm to preserve

But some like me to scared to pull the trigger :-))))

This is a nice project for someone - BUT - it can end up costing a bomb so look to do it to keep - not to get tired of and sell later

I have one very similar to this i got fro FRST price was similar. His intention was to ream it, and so was mine but im still playing with it as is.
It likes the norma oryx 232 grain and the sights seem to be set for 100 meters. I shot it to 200 m at taranakis big bore last year and scored 2 of 3 on a 2 foot plate with good old fashioned holdover.
At over $100 a box ammo is not a bargain but its a good source of cases.
Dies are around 150, and woodleigh make a good 235 grain bullet.
I also load shooter nz cast 285 grainers.
I have found jacketed load data pretty sketchy, most use obsolete or hard to get powders but you can get it up to starting load speeds for the 62 with the light bullet if thats your thing.
You can form brass from 8x57 but the failure rate is quite high even with buckets of lube in my experience.

@40mm thanks for the offer but for now I think I am going to hang onto it for a bit. I have dies, brass and some projectiles.

Hahahaha, it has no recoil pad. I have shot it before, the recoil is not bad.

No prob @Redaxler, I brought one off a fellow forum member the very next day! I have some brass and live ammo, And just ordered some dies. Time to make some big holes in things....
