    Hydro Dipping Tikka Stock

    Afternoon all,

Has anyone had a tikka stock hydro dipped? I have my Kimber stock done in a walnut print as i quite like the stainless/ wood look.

If so by who? How did it go with the changable grip section?

    Cheers

My son had his done but it was real shinny.
I had a stock recoated by Murfs precision they did an awesome job i would get them to paint it then put their rubber coating on it, which would be way better than hydro dip.

Hydodip in Tauranga. Been at least 6 years now and still like the day it was done (almost). It has got a bit shiny where you handle it a lot.

Thank you for the reminder i used the place in Tauranga for my other rifle but couldn't find the info. Looks like they have now moved and changed hands.

Found a couple of threads where Caveman in Hamilton had been recommended so will give them a go now to decide on which print.
Would be interested to hear peoples opinions.

My Kimber doesn't look as clean/ flat (which i like) as @Shearer or @Plinky has a clear over the top of the print then some grit in it for some added grip. Its probably 6+ years old. Few scratches etc but wearing better than expected.

Paul was the bloke that used to do it in Tauranga. He did my Tikka and 7 odd years ago and it's still looks like it did when I first got it back.
I recall Paul saying he used high end base coats prior to dipping, then applied a few coats of matte sealant over top, so it has no shine to it.
I think he sold the business in last year or so, I'm not sure who took over.

Looks like the owners have moved it to Whanganui.

I ended up with Caveman Hydrographics in Hamilton. He was really responsive via whatsapp and easy to deal with. Was happy with pick up pre sika show and said he will try and get a stand next year. Is also getting into Cerakote. It was fairly quick even with having to order the print in from USA. $150. Has some clear coats over the top. Doesn't feel slippery at all. Really like the pattern and stainless combo. Will most likely get other plastic/ composite stocks done to match.

Kryptec I’m pretty sure not sure which one but highlander looks pretty close on their website. I’ll pull it out the safe and see if it’s written in the pattern somewhere in the next day or so.
