Thread: I am thinking of buying a Night Vision scope. Any suggestions

I have been researching NV scopes for a while now.

There is just so much out there. YouTube reviews do give some idea, but technology has moved so fast

I am look for budget NV. I find the Sytong HT60 and the Oneleaf NV400 interesting.

The Oneleaf seems to be a new brand. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Alexjansennz has a pard on here for stupidly cheep, hard to pass that up as a starting scope. feel free to give me a message if your interested and ill lt him know

something to be aware of, ive been using a pard 850 but the 940 would be much better, best for reasonably clean country, my property has lots of fern and rubbish, lots of reflection to intefere, worrying about parallex and focus can be or is a bloody nuisance especially with foxes. if they had thermal scopes for a grand that would be the way to go, soooo much quicker.

My buddy has a X-sight 4k pro 5-20x he’s keen to move along as has upgraded.

I did research many of the old posts going back several years.

A mate has an Infiray that he bought at the Sika show a couple of years ago but still hasn't used it!

As mentioned in the OP, technology is changing fast.

I am not going to spend big money as I am a super annuitant. I've decided that NV is what I need as it will be for occasional rabbits and may be once or twice a year for fallow deer. I might even mount it on my .22 LR for possums.

I am particularly interested in the Sytong HT60 and the Oneleaf NV400

The current Sytong model is the HT70. It is an excellent thing. Reliable and works in every aspect.

The DNT Zulus (formally Arken) has marginally better daytime optics than the HT70 but in my experience has a less reliable range finder (sometimes doesn't range) and some of them (mine included) cut out under recoil on centre fires. Ken at Sytong remedied that for me with very good service.

The Zulus and Sytong have all of the same functions including auto ballistics linked to the range finder.

The HT70 is a few hundred bucks cheaper than the Zulus.

Ive been using a HT60 for the past 12 months and been very happy with it.

At 61mt the image is a lot sharper than this pic but I had to reduce pic resolution hugely to get to allowable pic size posted.

is that the color that shows up? find my white reflects a lot making aquzition hard at times

I know nothing about these products, so this might be a dumb question and I might have the wrong idea here, but Ill ask anyway. I thought night vision required an infra red torch? If so is the rangefinder aspect very critical? Id have thought that most game inside most torch beam length would be within 200 odd meters?

@whanahuia These are day/night scopes so the ballistics/range finder is fantastic for day shooting.

Also, they have exceptional on-board IR torches and of course it is very hard to estimate range at night. 300 yds is no problem and on a good night I could have (but haven't) shot deer out to 550 yards.
And the range finder ballistics compensate for slope which is a great feature.

And here we go - shot this at night at 315 yards (deer). I ranged her but didn't ping the ballistic range, just held on top of her shoulder.
