I thought this was cool, until I saw the price. More than a real AR.

guncity just being guncity
Yup. It's a bit steep to pay that for a 17WSM in that configuration but hard to justify when there are other sporting semis in wmr out there for way less
and here we go again......watch this space. same shit different flavor.....anyone want a bet on how long it will be untill ALL rimfire semis get banned now this is going on??? AGAIN....
wonder if there are magazines for "something else" of high capacity for sale on same shelf YET.......
I better shut up now before upset a fan boy.
its called poking the sleeping bear.....
I wouldnt have one for a wart on my arse -end of stry .inever liked the m16design -a prick to fire cackhanded-(scars on chin to prove it) climbed like a mortgage interest rate on fullauto and a right c u next tuesday to clean.also a piss poor chainsaw for felling trees.now a good old SLRfor me please.this desaign is so dated shit a brick no doubt even the green party would want to market a version -vegan of course.
@Micky Duck well apart from at least three 22s that look zackerly like an AR, one retailer is also selling 22 semis that look like G3s AKs and several other types that wouldn't have been allowed just a few years back on appearances.
The bugger of a thing is in at least the case of the Tippmans, some of them are quite reliable and accurate
Bloody hell. Who in their right mind would pay that?
Alot of money to just look cool. Alright for a photo of yourself walking up a river or something but practicality wise, there are plenty of better options.
I think it would be very practical in the right situations. My dad is full time pest controller and shoots for a helicopter outfit also, his main tool is an AR15 (a "proper" one) but there are situations where a centrefire is not practical and sometimes not allowed when completing contracts for doc etc. An example is a contract he has where he has to do a lot of shooting around the Mt Cook Hermitage and he is not allowed to use a centrefire. He started off with a CZ semi but got frustrated with it as it didn't fare well with high volume shooting and required fiddly breakdown for cleaning etc. I then showed him my Tippman and he went out and got one and reckons its awesome, it's the exact same feel, weight, operating controls etc as his ar15, he even runs the same ASE suppresor on it. He can use it in the dark no worries and is very familiar with it, he runs the same optics on it including thermal, he can pop the rear takedown pi, drop the bolt out and give it a wipe on his shirt in the dark without even looking. I think I've even heard him say "now if they made one of these in WMR they can take my money!"
yeah I think if I was going to spend that sort of money I would go for a Volquartson and decent scope - so much better to carry
I'm trying to understand the hate...guns a guns a gun. Its this division amongst LFAOs that led to the centrefire ones under the ban hammer, amongst many other types.
As a aside , I have a hammerli in ,22. I find the ergonomics with quite good. I can understand why they had a following.

I think that some people also somehow think if they support banning everyone elses guns theirs will somehow be safe. I should put that in the things you find amusing thread....
you misunderstand me...there IS NO HATE from me...seriously ,there isnt... BUT I am however enough of a realist and have been alive for long enough to read the writing on the wall and see what poking the bear causes.
twice now we have seen what happens when this practise is continued and becomes "the acceprted norm" by default..and then some nutter goes off rocker using one....... the ANTIS and the POLIES all scream...'but ...but...butt...but we changed the law so this type of firearm was no longer allowed.....and then the ANTI POLIES bring out the thinly veiled big stick again and push their personal barrow a little closer towards the end goal.
Okay take ya word for it mate - just trying to get my head around why someone would want to buy an AR 15 look alike over a more conventional wood blued - I need convincing they are not just wanting to look Rambo like - perhaps I need to use one - they just look awkward to me -as if they would not handle well
its OK Barry...... we know the SxS shotgun reached its pinnacle of fine handling and pointability some time in middle of last century....and the BP single rifles, along the lines of what our Buddy @akaroa1 has restored, reached similar lines, at same time...funny how a large feline trying to eat you,or a large bovine trying to gore you when you have only a single shot, or at very most ,a double shot to make it count terminally, meant that fast handling and instictive pointing mattered A LOT.... we likes what we likes...and thank goodness we arent all the same.blonds Vs redheads and all that.
Im picking that 3" 50 calibre Whitworth will come up to the eye oh so smoothly.....different strokes for different folks
and before someone argures the AR style was made for "other dangerous game" that shot back....it also was made/designed in full auto and spray n pray was the normal method of deploying it .....
We are in 2023 now. Not everyone likes wood and blue, theres so much more choice these days. I cant see why someone would want to hunt with a bow and arrow when tou can use a gun. Its just what they like and we all like different things...
Because I like Toyota's and my mate likes Nissans - same, same. We all like different things and just because somebody decides they dont like a certain configuration, look, colour etc, doesnt mean we all have to follow that persons likes. Be a boring old world if wee did eh........and dont forget the "15 minute city". I've never fired a real AR, would love to. I can see the benefit in a very fast 17. I happen to like semi's, just cos I can. But, those that know me also know that wood/blued does it for me too. Lets not jump on the bandwagon of the anti's and continue to vilify our fellow law abiding LFO's just cos they dont have the same tastes as us. Lets all stand together for once and stop giving the anti's and the popo fuel for their warped arguments as to why we should not owb firearms at all.
yes you are likely right I dont want a bow at all done to many trips and met bow hunters and their success rate was extremely low and they had paid good money to fly in - why not take one rifle and at least fly some meat out but there ya go - I will leave this thread not convinced that an AR 15 look alike is not much more than that - I want a Volquartson thats my holy grail - but the early stuff does it for me - nice old Remington pump - but good read here
Idont like it and i told you why -based on my 13yr TF career.the chainsaw crack -yes i was witness to that.Iwas also presnt when you hear emp[ty yank plastic sounding out as its hit on bloody great rimu trees or people try to clean a finnicky bolt with small partsin the middle of damp westcoast scrub on miltary camping trips called jungle partols .dowes that make me any less of a heathen .well>
BTW-Ive never met a rabbit of possum yet who could tell you what the round that ended his sex career w as fired from!!!!!a bolt action semi auto etcetcetcetc
@kotuku cack handers and right handed semis isn't a match made in heaven.
I've also heard reports from my old uncle Charlie the old takedown browning semiautos with the bottom eject were a demon for spitting hot cases down a sleeve if you weren't careful lol.
I don't mind pistol grips at all, even made one out of sheet alloy for the pump shotty.
Plastic stock on a rifle nowadays is a non event.
If it's a semi 22 and it holds well and shoots ok that is a big tick
