Terrifying thought I know. But if you could only have one centre fire rifle what would it be?
Sure this has been done before but anyway anything in 30 cal 3006 or 308. You can load from 110 gr for rabbits to 200 gr for things a little bigger, not much else that's that versatile.
260 rem . It's pretty dam versatile and its mild recoil
My trusty m96
Well the first thing would be to work on the principle of f*king off the retarded, anally driven, killjoy assholes who legislated for such a thing, so it has to be,
An Ar 15 with say 5 or 6 or 7 uppers in different cals and a spare lower or maybe 2.
223 14.5inch chrome lined, light barrel service carbine, red dot, colour - assault black
223 20inch service rifle, iron sights - assault black
223 24inch? match grade SS kruger or shilen single shot and the biggest effing "sniper" scope I can find, paint it camo.
6.5 something like a grendal for long range punch
300acblackout. sub-sonic, just for the hell of it
762x39 russian well why not
22LR very cheap yet incredible fun.
1 lower, service rifle grade.
"spare" 1 lower, 2 stage match grade.
make it E cat with bayonets and get some of those 40/60/100round snail mags, in fact a bag of them.
I'm going through this ordeal at the moment. Currently my 7/08 does everything I desire but I want something lighter and 'cooler' for use of a better word.
7mmrem mag xouldnt beat it for all round, can allways underload it if required
Wouldn't give my guns for the one, even if a law as such was past. I would simply just refuse to surrender them. If you have to fight for something, your freedom is probably one of the best reasons to make a stand.
Always have been and most likely will allways be a fan of the .308, does everything that I need it to do.
If I could only have one then one of these, (although someone else would have to buy it for me)

Of no practical use here but life is far too short for ugly guns and .500 might be just enough gun to stop rampaging goats
I'd cheat and own one AR lower and my fleet of uppers. If I couldn't cheat I guess I'd make do with my Spikes M4 for everything.
I already have it in my safe.😆
And has 3, soon to be 4 different calibers that can be selected and fitted to shoot in under a minute with no mucking around or rezeroing.
Can fill the freezer from point blank range to a km away if you have your shit squared away.
What more do you need other than maybe a higher cyclic rate and mag capacity.

Only got one so i'd keep that - 308!
I'd cry if you were only allowed one firearm fullstop (including rimfire/shotty). Is there talk of such a law happening?
The only centre fire rifle I have is my suppressed 17 inch barrel 7mm-08, it's all I need right now but If I moved down south I'd want a long range set up.
My Baikal IZH 94 12G over 7x57R,best of both worlds and built like the brick shitter.
And a box of claymores for the mass attack of the undead for when I can't reload fast enough.
And my KTM for pissing off in a hurry.
260 or 6.5x55 for a do everything gun.
6.5x55 can load from like 85gr to 160gr
I'd still go for my 223, though I may be tempted to go for the 243 now I have a good load worked out for it.
Like R93, I have what I would keep in the safe already, 2 barrels to choose from 223 and 6.5.
Some killjoy assholes want NZ to match OZ and their restrictions purely because OZ has tighter laws, so ppl will be "safer". Reality is despite there being little or no evidence it will change anything.
The Green's have a line in their justice policy,
"Make private ownership of fully functional semi-automatic weapons illegal. - See more at: https://home.greens.org.nz/policy/justice#sthash.zI2pLl7t.dpuf"
Quite what a "fully functional semi-automatic weapon" is as opposed to a non-functioning? or maybe semi-functioning semi-automatic weapon? is I am not sure and I suspect neither do they. What worries me the wording could in effect include all semi-automatic weapons.
and then there is this,
https://home.greens.org.nz/speeches/...-amendment-bil
"I just, in closing, would say that the Greens have some views on other matters about gun use, gun ownership, and gun control, which we would like to see Parliament bend its mind to on occasion, but that is for another day."
Just what their views are I cant find.
Unless some of the 250,000? licence holders in NZ are retarded, they will be alienating 1/16 of possible voters.
Not a very smart campaign to me.
The greens and the majority of their stoner, hairy legged, non meat eating, tree hugging constituents are what's wrong with this country imo. Weak as piss, in all aspects of society.

a swich barrel of some discripson 223 260 and 22lr barrels
R93 Pro .308 Win+ 223 Rem barrel
Wouldn't change my 7mm Rem Mag.
The greens are a bunch of crackpots who more harm than good, thankfully intelligent people who are capable of rational thought see through their p.c feel good fluffy crap.hence why they will never be any stronger than they already are politically.
You only have to look across the ditch to see what happens to crime rates when you restrict good honest people owning firearms, all violent crime rates skyrocket.
Then look at the u.s city of Chicago where concealed carry was recently legalised, murder rates at a 56 year low, burglaries down over 20%
If you outlaw guns, then only outlaws will have guns
+1 for the 260
I would probably get a t3 for the marvelous long action but chambered in a short action cal like 243 or similar that love proper length barrels and cut it in half to put a suppressor on and a laminate stock to take the flex out then when I finally worked out I had ruined it I would put it on trade me for new price and go buy a Sako 308.

I would have my 6.5. Only thing I would change is I wouldnt AI it again
To me its the perfect rifle set up how it is for the shooting I do
Yeh. I'd go Sako 85 Finn in 308. Although I'm doing a door knock @R93 house soon to raid his whitebait stash and see these Blasers. They are obviously nice.
But bejesus there's some issues out there @steven. @kmak. Buy a Sako and stop being a killjoy asshole. [emoji87][emoji2][emoji2]

I would most likely pick, my M70 featherweight in 7x57, or perhaps the M70 EW in .264 win.
Shit! Looks like I've purchased/swapped for another 7mm this morning or I would definitely. They are a GREAT rifle IMO.

But bejesus there's some issues out there @steven. @kmak.
oop's sorry people, got a little passionate about the wrong subject on the wrong forum there.
on a better note, there been some great responses to my question. makes me feel alot better about my choice of a t3 308 for my first rifle. (used plenty of other peoples rifles, never bought one for myself till recently), just need to find something smaller and cheaper for my daughter now, don't want to scare her off shooting by letting her loose on the 308 just yet. had been looking at a rossi wizard but they seem to have a lot of issues so am considering a baikal in 223 or maybe 243, any thoughts? i have a 22 in the safe so it's time for her to take the next step.
My ,ex Neckshot's, .260 AI, I'd probably put it on a diet though
@kmak yes they are. The trouble is to get anything done in a democracy you almost have to be fanatical about a single issue and most sane ppl I think are not that single minded. Personally I think anyone who is is that way has mental health issues and as someone said you cannot argue with a fanatic / extremist / loony they simply do not care about your point of view. So really they are convinced guns are bad and no one sane would want one, ergo you are an insane, vile person and need help or get locked away. Its quite frightening talking to ppl like that frankly, they will have no bar of a different point of view and such ppl seem to work themselves into positions that effect others.
