"Remember which one it was you were reluctant to hand back because it felt good and buy one second hand."
That is straight gold that is @gadgetman
look in the buy sell on here...go back a couple of pages and see how many awesome old girls have come up for sale....lovely old BSA type rifles..... they still shoot good, handle well and have a soul...not like a spastic plastic model....use your $500-600 to buy one and the other $400-500 to put a good leupold scope on top and you will be happy camper... you could use as is while sock drawer builds up enough to get it suppressed if you feel the urge.
there are a couple of ZASTAVAs for sale on the dreaded yellow site...love mine.
save up a bit more & get a sauer 100 xt in 6.5 prc , R39 mentioned the cal recently im thinking id like one too .
The Green party putting the CON in conservation since 2017
Is the $800-$1000 you have squirrelled away for a whole pakage ( scope mounts rifle etc ) or just the rifle ?
I have recently purchased a secondhand Tikka and setting up the whole package added to the purchase price dramatically.
FALL IN LOVE WITH THE NUMBERS , NOT THE IDEA
Howa. SAko without the Sako tax, made in Japan and not budget spec US crap. only needs a nice stock.
As @Toby said, Howa, the improved Sako. Built by a company that makes precision metal working machinery.
There are only three types of people in this world. Those that can count, and those that can't!
Buy a Howa, suffer the stock until you save up a few more South Pacific Pesos, and then get a Stug stock or similar.
Identify your target beyond all doubt
I see that Howa release their rifles with a HS Precision stock as an option in the USA....and will be released in 6.5 PRC. I wish they were here now!!

That's what I did but to be fair it ended up a pretty bloody nice rig. Probably the only one I regret selling.
Cost you more than a factory Tikka though.
