Thread: Importing/Exporting high capacity magazines for a A-cat 22lr

I intend to purchase the new Ruger American Rimfire in .22lr, this rifle uses the same 10shot magazine as the ruger 10/22 which means it will also work with the ruger BX25 25shot magazine (which would be legal for a A-cat license holder as the rifle is bolt action)

Reloaders sell the BX25 magazines for $100, serious shooters for $110 and Guncity for $200. However in the US they sell for $25NZD which raises the question how easy is it to bring say 10 of these magazines into the country? I would expect it would cost on $250NZD for the mags plus another $50 or so for shipping, leaving me $700 better off than if i had purchased them in country.

But how hard is it and what import and export bollocks am I going to run into?
